Special Start: These students come to the library weekly to sing songs and listen to a story read aloud.
K-2:
Students in these grades come weekly for library class. Library
standard based lessons and skills are taught through games, songs, and
projects. Children have approximately 10-15 minutes at the end of each
library class to browse, borrow, and read/look at books.
3-5: Students
in these grades come either weekly or bi-weekly for book talks, read
alouds, genre work, and checkout. Through collaboration and co-teaching
with the classroom teacher throughout the year, students will learn and
use 21st century skills through research and other projects. Grade 5
students are also participating in the Massachusetts Children’s Book
Awards. Book Discussion Lunches will be held in the library to discuss
MCBA books throughout the fall and winter.
All students are
welcome in the library for book check out and renewal throughout the day
when there are no classes in session with permission from their
classroom teacher.
