Cambridgeport School Library and Technology Center

Cambridgeport LibraryWelcome to the Cambridgeport School Library! Located on the “sixth” floor in Room 302, the library offers a growing collection of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, folk tales, picture books, early readers, and graphic novels. We also provide access to audio books and online encyclopedias and databases for school or home use.

Our library program focuses on building a love of reading and teaches students to become efficient and effective users of information.

Ms. Van Auken meets weekly with students in grades J/K - 4. Lessons aim to encourage all students to be curious, engaged learners and avid readers. Often, lessons include a read-aloud followed by a discussion and/or a written or drawn response to the books we read. In grades 3 and 4, lessons also include instruction and practice using our library catalog. The last 15 minutes of each class is devoted to book check-out and independent reading.

The library is open all day to individual students in grades 3 - 5 in need of new independent reading books.

For more information regarding our learning goals and curriculum, see the Cambridge Public School Educational Technology and Library Media Learning Expectations.
