Our Cambridgeport School
Physical Education Teacher
What inspired you to go into your present field?
I feel that it is important to be a positive member of my community and I enjoy helping students be active. Growing up I played just about every sport that was available to me, so becoming a Physical Education Teacher made perfect sense. I started out not knowing anything about Cambridgeport when I was hired. The process for PE Teachers is to first be interviewed by the PE Department and then be placed at a school. This is my 11th year at the C'port and it has become my second home and the community has become my family.
What is the best part of your day?
Teaching is the best part of my day. When I'm delivering a lesson to the kids and they are successful with it, I really feel good.
What do you like to do after school?
I enjoy spending time with my sons Mike, Ben, and Matt, and my wife Jill (former C'port Teacher).
What challenges do you enjoy?
Being the Boys' Varsity Soccer Coach at Cambridge Rindge & Latin is a challenge that I enjoy. Having the opportunity to work with some of the top athletes in the city and to help them archive their goals both on and off the field is a true privilege for me.
Favorite sports team?
I am a huge "Green Teamer" so I would say that the Celtics are my favorite professional sports team. However, the CRLS Falcons no matter what sport are my overall favorite.
What is your favorite hobby?
Working in my yard and doing fix-it stuff around my house or reading are my favorite hobbies, but occasionally on a rainy day I will break out my Nintendo NES and play Tecmo Super Bowl.
What is your favorite dish/ice cream?
My favorite dish is Bertucci's shrimp Rossini, followed by a Hoodsie.
