Abi FrostThis week, we are Spotlighting Abigail Frost. This is Abi's 2nd year as Cambridgeport School's Literacy Coach. Abi's office is located in room 101A on the 2nd floor. Abi works closely with our teaching staff to support Literacy Instruction. The goal is for every teacher to complete at least one coaching cycle with either the Math or Literacy coach yearly. Abi works with school and district leaders to make sure our teachers have the necessary materials and information needed to enhance literacy instruction. Abi works with the math coach and the school principal to facilitate weekly professional learning community meetings where we use an inquiry framework to support us in engaging in effective ways to examine what our students and staff need regarding literacy instruction. She also organizes classroom observations with our TLA coach. Abi is always available to support teachers. She spends time in classrooms observing and giving feedback to teachers and also makes herself available to co-plan units and lessons with teachers. Abi can be found in after-school meetings with teachers in order to accommodate a wide range of opportunities to share her expertise. She is committed to enhancing literacy practices that will yield strong outcomes for our students.

"Hi! My name is Abi Frost. I grew up in New Jersey, went to Bates College in Maine, and studied literacy at Harvard Graduate School of Education. I taught in Boston for ten years, including as a reading specialist, and then was a literacy coach in Chelsea. I live in Winchester with my husband, eight-year-old daughter, and four-year-old son. I love to read, go to yoga classes, take care of my garden, and ski all winter. This is my second year as the literacy coach at the C’Port. I am responsible for supporting teachers with implementing a literacy curriculum in the classroom that engages and challenges all our students. I co-plan lessons, observe and provide feedback, lead professional development and training and help teachers collect, organize and use data for instruction. I can’t wait for lots of collaboration this year and to see our students grow as readers and writers! I am responsible for reminding teachers of who they truly are, of their best selves, and of who they can!"
