First
graders explored balls and ramps in their science work. They conducted
many different experiments and made careful observations to understand
what makes a ball roll, what makes a ball roll farther or faster, etc.
They asked questions and sought answers through the scientific process.
In addition to working on this scientific inquiry using the scientific
method, students also got the chance to explore how balls and ramps work
through creative movement. Through Dance in the Schools, a grant funded
project, a resident artist/dancer came to work with students as they
explored creative movement as it related to their scientific inquiry.
