Please welcome this year's counseling interns at Cambridgeport: Sam Dorsey, Diana Stoianov, and Danny Romano! Learn more about them here...

Samantha (Sam) Dorsey
Hi, my name is Samantha (Sam) Dorsey. I am a second year intern from Northeastern, who is currently working at the Cambridgeport, Fletcher Maynard Academy, and the Rindge Ave Upper School. I like to paint in my spare time, and majored in Illustration in undergrad. Over the summers, I hope to continue to write and illustrate children's books. I love working in Cambridge, and so happy to be at the Cambridgeport for a second year!

Diana Stoianov
My name is Diana Stoianov, and I am a second-year graduate student in the school psychology program at Northeastern University. I have my Master's and I am very interested in working with children of all ages, particularly in academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions, and counseling. In my work, I aim to highlight students' strengths and use those strengths to help them succeed in all aspects of their development and education. Working with teachers, caregivers, and school staff to ensure the best environment for students is one of the most enriching aspects of my role as a school psychologist and counselor. I am always available to speak about strategies for student success, to contribute to school support teams, and to meet with anyone with ideas for school improvement. Before becoming an intern at Cambridgeport, some highlights of my work with youth include being a Jumpstart early literacy educator for preschoolers at a shelter in Dorchester, MA, a summer camp facilitator for five years at The Mayhew Program in New Hampshire, and a researcher discovering psychological risk and protective factors for youth encountering hardships. I am from San Diego, CA, but I decided to spend the rest of my life in the beautiful east coast after I completed my undergrad at Yale. Outside of working in schools, my favorite activity is being a children's swim instructor and swimming on my own time.

Danny Romano
Hello! My name is Danny Romano, and I am from Yonkers, New York. I love being in Cambridge because it is a great town and I also grew up a Red Sox and Patriots fan. I always wanted to study in Boston and work as a School Counselor. I applied to Northeastern and now I am a grateful intern here at Cambridgeport. As vital members of the school community, the School Counselor plays a role in shaping the lives of students. They work with students in the areas of academic achievement, personal and social development, as well as guide students to become more productive, educated adults and our leaders of tomorrow.
