jeffOur Art Teacher

What inspired you to go into your present field? And how did you come to be at Cambridgeport School?
I knew when I was 18 that I wanted to teach art to kids. I remember being a student very well, and I felt like I could help kids to succeed. Prior to teaching at Cambridgeport, I had been teaching art for 20 years, including 12 years spent teaching art to all grades (K-12) in New York City. When I heard that Cambridgeport was looking for a teacher, I immediately sent in my resume :)

What is the best part of your day?
The best part of my day is after I've given my lesson, and all the students are sitting at their tables working hard on projects they care about. This doesn't happen all the time, but when it does I feel very happy...and proud...and peaceful. :)

What do you like to do after school?
I think about teaching, and what I can do to improve. Swim. Play guitar. Hang out with friends. Make art. Watch Baseball on TV. Lets go Mets! Eat!

What challenges do you enjoy?
The biggest challenge for art teachers is time. We wish we had more time to work with our students.

Favorite ice cream?
Häagen Daz Dulce de Leche or anything with caramel in it :)
