Second Grade Math

math_2.jpgSecond grade math covers a variety of topics; building on experiences from Kindergarten and first grade and preparing students for third grade. Our primary focus is helping students to understand place value and use groups of ten to add and subtract numbers into the hundreds. Students develop efficient strategies to solve both numerical and story problems. In addition we spend time exploring; geometry, data, measurement, algebraic thinking (finding and extending patterns), and fractions.
